Forest Bathing at Illinois Beach State Park
Thursday, October 08
12:30pm - 2:30pm
Join us for a Forest Bathing walk led by Linda Karlen at Illinois Beach State Park. We will meet at the Nature Center parking lot to start out!
Here's an invitation to join us on a forest bathing walk. A what?! "Forest bathing" is a guided immersion in nature that disconnects us from our busy brain life and offers us a much-needed connection to the more-than-human world. Some of the benefits of forest bathing (aka forest therapy) include reduced cortisol levels, an enhanced ability to focus, and a greater sense of ease. Whether you've participated in forest bathing previously or are a first timer, this walk is designed for you. Linda Karlen is an ANFT Forest Therapy Guide and looks forward to sharing this experience with you.
Tips for the best experience: Please dress comfortably on the day of our walk following the day's temperature and weather conditions (sunglasses, hat, rain jacket, waterproof boots, gloves... whatever you may need for comfort as we enjoy whatever conditions the day brings). Sit pads will be provided, but if you prefer, bring your own portable folding stool. Plan to arrive 10 minutes early to use the bathroom and sign a waiver before our walk begins. Come with an open mind and heart!
We will meet at the Illinois Beach State Park Nature Center. Follow the directions for the Illinois Beach Resort located at 100 Lake Front Dr., Zion. The entrance for the nature center is on the right just before you reach the resort.
